Who are Architects?

The UK architectural profession is regulated by the Architects Registration Board which maintains a register of 28,000 members. Under UK law only registered members are permitted to use the title Architect. Conditions of membership include a requirement to maintain adequate professional indemnity insurance.

Most UK architects are also members of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Members of the RIBA subscribe to a code of professional conduct. The RIBA supports members through a range of facilities and events at national and regional level. It also provides a point of contact for clients.
